You can pretend you are watching movies outside, while still being in the comfort of your own home. I think it gives the room a nice open feeling.

That's interesting. It reminds me of going to the drive-in theater when I was a teenager.

I guess you could get some old car seats to tie into that theme. I don't think we should try to recreate the drive-in speaker system though. <_<

The old car seats is actually a great idea, but I wouldn't go with the drive-in speaker system either. Not that anyone actually went to watch the movie. ;)

Is this actually someone's interior of the theater? I wouldn't have ever thought of putting something like the sky on top of the ceiling. I love this idea. Is it too hokey to put it in the theater that I'm thinking of putting together for my husband?

Now this I love! I love star panels and it seems as if they have some in the ceiling as well.

I would love to paint a mural over the ones I am looking to purchase.

Do you have any additional information on this room?

Here is a link to the site where I found this. It shows some of the process. They incorporate fiber optic lights to make it look realistic. http://www.artlee.com/nightsky.htm

This reminds me of the first time I ever went to a casino in St. Louis and they had the murals painted on the walls and ceilings to make it appear that you were outside walking down the street.

I bet the fiber optic lights really put the finishing touches on that.

I think it would be very relaxing to watch movies there. It would probably be especially effective if the scene of the movie tied into the outdoors at night as well.

Ameristar casino in Kansas City is like that as well. Blue sky with white clouds, and each little store and restaurant has a front like the outside of a building. It's pretty awesome.

I love the ceiling in the first post here. A great idea to tuck away in my "maybe someday" file.
