There are a lot of movies I like but I object to what I think is unnecessary swearing because I have little kids in the house. Is there a device that will block out the swearing?

I have no idea if something like this is still made (the story is 5-6 yrs. old) - http://www.cnn.com/2...nsor/index.html

I wonder how accurate that device was? I never heard of it.
I'm sure it would be desirable as young children are expanding their vocabularies. Actually it's a pet peeve of mine when some channels edit the dialogue to avoid swearing, sometimes with comedic results... I'm referring to when no kids are present.

Apparently they are still around and have products including players - here's the website - http://www.clearplay.com/

I've seen the ones that work with dvds (like Clearplay) but I'd like to find something that will also filter the shows that come across on cable. Some of that stuff, even the prime time stuff, is just as bad as what's in dvds.
TVs today have V-Chip built in - http://tv.about.com/...chipRatings.htm It lets you filter what programs can be watched but not content within programs

Right. The V chip will allow filtering of programs, but what if I want to watch the show and just have the swearing blocked out? I don't believe the V chip will do that.
