Do you consider yourself to be "loyal" to a particular brand for your electronics? I just stopped and considered the fact that I have a Sony TV, Playstation 3, PSP, eReader, and Vaio laptop...my goodness! I must like Sony! I do; but I do also buy other brands - I guess I'm unconsciously more of a Sony person, though!

I tend to buy things from the same companies if I'm happy, and the opposite is also true. My current laptop is garbage, won't buy another of the same company again. My receiver is an Integra, and it has performed without any problems for about 7 or 8 years now I think. When it comes time to upgrade that brand will be on the shortlist.

What do you experience with Vaio? I heard that Sony is an excellent brand for electronic products, but not for laptops. I am more a Panasonic person. My home theater system, AC and refrigerator are Panasonic's.

I like Panasonic, too! :) Honestly, the Vaio is fine as a computer, but it was a gift and cost way more than I would have been willing to spend on, say, a Toshiba with the same memory and speed. I still am normally a Toshiba girl when it comes to laptops, but I guess when my dad saw all my Sony gear he figured the Vaio would be a good gift.

I'm a huge Bryston fan (bryston.com) and their amps purchased from an authorized dealer (whether new or used as long as you have a receipt) carry a 20 yr. warranty from the date of manufacture and I've even heard many stories of them fixing amps fried by lightning for free.

I think it is natural to want to stick to a brand that you have had a good experience with. I tend to look for the best deal and then compare it to my preferred brand.

I see. In the case of a gift, I wouldn't mind to accept any brand. :) I also like Toshiba. I used to use it when still working in office. But my favorite is Lenovo, even after it's bought by a Chinese company.

My components are from different companies based upon reviews that I've read. Then I'll go into a store to see how the component sounds and if I like it, I'll buy it. No loyalty here.

I certainly am not loyal to brands. I have so many different brands of electronics. Especially MP3 players, I usually break them so I have had so many brands and I refuse to buy the expensive ones because a new one is likely to get broken at some point.
