I'm not sure that I'd want reclining seats in my dream home theater. Some people fall asleep with the TV on, but if I'm watching a movie it's usually an "event" and I'm sitting up.

Does anyone here prefer recliners as part of their home theater experience?

I have one recliner which I might use depending on the day and mood, and I like it that way. My mother, on the other hand, has a set of couches and EVERY seat pops out as a recliner. To each their own, I guess!

Reclining seats are way too comfortable. I'd love them for a home theater, and I'd probably use them if I was sitting through a movie that my husband wanted to see but I was less than thrilled about (300 comes to mind, and a whole bunch of star trek movies). Then I could be beside him, be comfortable, and who cares if I drifted off just a little. If it was something I wanted to see, I just wouldn't recline.

I prefer it. I actually got one that is part of a sectional and you can get them with no arm rest or one arm rest or two arm rests. I got mine with one arm rest so it is a drop wider.

I have a nice recliner that I relax in when watching television. I don't really have a theater setup there, but it's my viewing arrangement. I use various positions.
Is it really you, George?

Sign me up for the real movie theater seats - the ones that recline way back. I want "movie theater feel" of my home theater.
I won't fall asleep if it's a good movie. If it's not a good movie, I'd sleep sitting up too.
Everything electronic :)

I am with Cotton, I may fall asleep or other people my fall asleep as well. Now massaging chairs, I could co-sign for that during a movie.

lol to the massaging chairs. Now I'm all about relaxing and being comfy when I'm watching TV or a movie. I'm in for the reclining seats and for the massaging ones too. I wonder how much those cost?

I personally prefer recliners, mainly since I like to stretch-out and relax when I watch a move.

I do enjoy watching a movie in a recliner, but it all depends on the mood I am in. I have the option for both types of seating, that way I can decided depending on my mood.

I love having my feet propped up on the recliner foot rest while I watch a movie. Yes I do get sleepy sometimes but most of the time it's just relaxing. If it's a scary movie, then I will sit with my feet to the side and not in the recliner chairs.

If I'm watching a scary movie, then I'm sitting on the couch with a blanket near me to grab and put over my head! It is my daughter who loves scary movies... I like them too, but I'm a baby!

I think this is one of the problems I have when I go to a specific local movie theater. The seats are "too" comfortable and I end up feeling tired before the movie ever starts. I don't think I'd want that to happen at home too.

If I had one, I'd definitely prefer to use a recliner. I like to lean back. Maybe even one that rocks a little would be enjoyable.

I'd want to be comfortable, but not too comfortable. I think reclining seats would almost guarantee that I'd fall asleep part-way through the movies.

I don't go to the movies anymore. I got tired of all of the kids in front of me rocking the chair or the ones behind me kicking the back of my seat. I want to be able to enjoy the movie not be annoyed the whole time.

I like this idea because I often watch a movie for me to get to sleep. Having a reclining seat would surely make it more comfortable therefore putting me to sleep faster.

I prefer to have a reclining chair in my home theater setup. I find the chairs, really rather comfy and love being able to put my feet up after having a long day.

I like laying down while watching a movie in my room. Reclining chairs a great but I like my bed better. I'm even dreaming of having a monitor or a projector that shows the images at the ceiling.

Recliners for me, for sure. Sitting up feels too much like work. Normally I would be on the floor with half-a-dozen pillows of various sizes so that I can mix and match according to my mood.
