How do you plan to furnish your home theater? Do you just plan to get some comfy furniture and worry more about the electronics? Or, are you going for the whole "theater" atmosphere? Reclining theater seats with built in cupholders... that sort of thing. If I had a bigger house and extra room, I think it would be awesome to have an actual theater room. But as it stands right now, I'll be lucky to just get all the equipment I want for the front room and go with the sofa and chairs we already have.

I'm personally not into a separate theater room. I have a comfortable chair and more often than not I'm watching by myself. If I have people over, it is not usually for movies. Having a nice separate theater room would be a good thing if most of the time there were multiple people watching. It probably would be fun to plan and have a separate room. My main system is upstairs. I also have a basement system and a bedroom system. I'm also more into high end audio and while each of my systems plays movies, they tend to be more geared towards 2-channel audio playback. If I had to do stuff all over I might only have a music system upstairs and might do something with the basement. I finished the basement on my own and finished it after I was in the house for about 6 years.

Yes, comfy furniture and spend the $$'s on equipment.

Pretty much the opposite of Phil. Dedicated theater room, movies but not much music. Lots of kids and grandkids so it works out.

My first furniture was the old couch and love seat, hand me down from the living room. Got a leather couch for a birthday, tossed the love seat. I have the two couches at about 12 feet and 15 feet from the screen. The back couch is 10" above the front. If I ever redo I'd make it at least 12".

I believe I have another leather couch in my future :) The old one is in pretty bad shape, almost 30 years old :)

Originally I was going to do theater seating but spent the money on upgrading equipment instead. And the next upgrade will be equipment again.

Not furniture, but we have a pop and a popcorn machine, which might not look very good in a living room. :D

Oh wow, how awesome is that? :) Now you just need a glass counter filled with things like jujubees, junior mints, and raisinettes. I think it would be fun to have a decked out theater room someday. I'm betting you have old movie posters hanging on your wall too, don't you?

We bought our couches a few years ago with the idea of us watching movies on them all the time. They are leather and recline easily. It's not a typical theater set up but it works great for us.

We have a small home theater room only, so there is not much chance to furnish my home theater and make it like the real theater. That's good though, as we can spend all the budget on electronics.
