I have a teenage daughter and she wants a new setup in her room. She has 2 rooms (bedroom and a playroom). The playroom is being turned into an older room - not toys but electronics. Any suggestions for this type of room. How much would you spend and how technical?

Really depends on the teen and the age. You do want them to go outside sometime. 
I am used to dealing with boys mostly. My grand daughter is not into the gaming as much as the boys but she is definitely into the net, music and movies.
Computer with broadband.
TV (LCD 40" or so) , cable or SAT (HD DVR)
PS3 for Bluray/DVD
or Xbox360 plus that new OPPO BR player ($289)
Decent sound system, 5.1 minimum
A tad over the top maybe but you can pick and choose depending on her wants
Its only good until she discovers boys then you can claim the room as yours.

I love it! She has discovered boys somewhat-- so that would be awesome if it was my room soon. Although I have a nice set-up in the basement.
We have a Wii that she has in her room. Wondering how good that is compared to the Xbox.

I agree that it depends on your daughter's personality and age. Is she likely to actually use it? You don't want to spend too much on a set up that rarely gets used. Also, does she take care of her things well? Having her own techie playroom might allow her to feel she can leave discs out in the open and manhandle equipment a bit...

Not even a comparison the wii prob has games she likes to play but it's no 360 or PS3

Agreed, but really, it all depends on what she likes if all of this is for her. I know a teen who was given a 360 for Christmas and he hasn't touched it since the day he got it - he was already hooked on the motion-action remote games of the Wii.

I don't know how old your child is but I wouldn't go too expensive. I have two kids under the age of 10 and I'm doing a room for them but I'm not getting a television any bigger than 32". I'm also trying to find one that has a DVD player already on the television and one where I can hook up their Playstation and Wii when their friends come over.
