I just saw this article online about ESPN and Discovery launching 3D TV networks.

I've been hearing great things about the new 3D technology, but I wasn't expecting this.

It seems like there is a strong push for this coming from equipment manufacturers and broadcasters. I think the recent DirecTV satellite launch earmarks some space for 3DTV.

Add to that Vizio announcing reasonably priced 3D panels, not due until August, but still. The panels have to be affordable and the content has to be great. Seems we're headed in the right direction.

I haven't heard of those before. Is there a technology for TV screens that makes them better for 3D?

Actually, I'm not even up on the difference between the traditional 3D and the "new" 3D that's become so popular.
