This just sounds so neat to me. I would love to be able to have an outdoor theater (kind of like a drive-in theater) out back. I live in the country so I have the room. What would I need to buy for this? I'm thinking it would be something different than an indoor theater.

Here's a site with some things. I sure there are other things you can do yourself too.

I do not have an outdoor theater, but I have been to a few. Unlike you, I am not lucky enough to have the room for that, but I should ever get the space for that I would love to have one in my back yard too.

Thanks for the link Phil, I'll file it in my "wishful thinking" bookmarks.

I have a friend who has a small outdoor theater. He actually took a large screen TV and surround sound system and set it in a small shed. The doors open back and the speakers are mounted on poles that can be positioned around the yard. I thought it was quite ingenious when I saw it. It's protected from the weather but sets up in seconds to watch the big game.

I do not have a theater outdoors. I do have a nice setup for listening to music when out there but I haven't splurged on the outdoor setup right yet. Maybe in another five years I can do that too.

How about some projector that would play on the side of my barn? Wow, I didn't realize there was that much involved in having an outdoor theater. I would still love one though.

That would be so sweet! That would be my kind of outdoor activity since I usually dislike the outdoors. Ha! Maybe one day I'll get to move somewhere and have this kind of opportunity.

Which is better on outdoor HT, projector or TV screen?

In my opinion projector is best for outdoor HT. But how do you watch movies with the projector at day?

I don't think you could watch movies during the day with an outside projector? You would need it dark in the room right? Or dark outside? This is something I would very much be interested (an outside theater).
